Steve Harmon

I am from Knoxville, Tennessee, and was appointed to the Naval Academy by the late Congressman John J. Duncan, Sr.  I was a Surface Warfare Officer during my 20 years of naval service after graduation.  During the following 22 years I supported the development and modernization of naval surface combatants and had the pleasure of working with some of my fellow classmates in the military, government, and private sectors.    I have 3 daughters from a prior marriage and 6 grandchildren – 4 girls and 2 boys.  My wife, Monica, and I retired to Green Cove Springs, Florida in 2018 and enjoy a peaceful life with the many new friends we have made.  Our family includes Annie, a Treeing Walker Coon Hound; Lulu Belle, a Bluetick Coonhound; Lillie, our pound cat, and “O”, the oscar.  One of my favorite activities is supporting a local charity that repairs donated bicycles and provides them to needy children and underserved adults. I am participating in this event because I enjoy biking and it looks to be a fun and challenging ride.  And, as my wife said, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Riding in support of our chosen charities is an honor.
