Jay Donnelly
I entered USNA from McLean, VA and remained in the Navy for 35 years after graduation. A submarine officer by training, my wife and I moved 24 times during my career. My last assignment on active duty was as Commander, Submarine Forces and I retired as a Vice Admiral. After retiring from the Navy, I settled in Annapolis, MD and worked in the defense industry for ten years. My wife, Mimi, and I have three children and six grandchildren. Each of our children entered the Navy after college and two married naval officers. My immediate family has USNA graduates from the classes of 1975, 1976, 2000 and 2002. My hobbies include cycling, traveling to exotic locals, fine wines and searching for the perfect martini. I’m riding in G2G honor of my Naval Academy roommate, Hut Lindner. Shortly after our 40th class reunion, Hut was injured in a hit-and-run accident while cycling. The result was a severe brain injury to his frontal temporal lobe which left him permanently disabled. The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) has been most helpful to Hut’s family and I am riding to raise funds and awareness for that organization in Hut’s honor. Please consider making a donation to AFTD at the link provided in this website.
